WLP achieves Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator

Women’s Lunch Place is proud to have achieved the coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent evaluator of charities. Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a four-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology.  These accountability and transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices  and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders. This is the 4th consecutive time that Women’s Lunch Place has earned top distinction from Charity Navigator with a 4-star rating.

We are so proud to share the news that Charity Navigator recognizes our commitment  to our mission to provide a safe, comfortable day time shelter, nutritious food, and vital services for women experiencing homelessness.  Since 1982, thousands of women in Greater Boston have found refuge and welcome at Women’s Lunch Place and we are thankful we are able to continue helping hundreds of women each day.

We are open six days a week, year-round, to serve anyone who identifies as a woman, with no requirements to receive any service. We treat women with dignity and respect, and foster a community committed to meeting each woman’s needs. In the words of one guest, “I was half a person in the street and they put me together.”
