Welcome to Women’s Lunch Place!

It’s hard to fully understand Women’s Lunch Place without making a visit to our shelter.

Monday through Saturday, our staff and volunteers provide nutritious meals, hygienic essentials, specialized one-on-one advocacy services, free medical care, and a variety of creative opportunities for personal and professional growth.

We deliver these services to over 2,200 women each year without judgment or requirements for assistance.

Many of our guests have experienced severe trauma, abuse, and loss. WLP invests in staff training to ensure that our holistic model of care works as well for women in crisis as it does for those who may only be experiencing a temporary period of uncertainty in their lives.

WLP is equipped to support guests who fall through the cracks of social welfare and healthcare systems. Whether we are providing legal services to women fleeing domestic violence, rent assistance for those facing eviction, or simply a consistent refuge and hot cup of coffee, our thoughtfully-built environment is one of trust, resilience, and hope.

Whatever current challenges our guests face do not define their essential personhood. Our staff responds not to the sometimes challenging behavior of a guest, but rather to their underlying needs.

We recognize that in a world where they are often rendered invisible, it is important that women experiencing homelessness have a voice at WLP and that we listen to their needs with open minds and hearts.

Unfortunately, the demand for our services is growing rapidly. In the last fiscal year alone, we prepared and served 139,003 meals, our Advocates conducted 10,916 individual consultations, and Direct Care staff distributed thousands of essential hygienic and clothing items to those in need.

Women’s Lunch Place is unique in our dual ability to form long-term relationships with our guests and take emergency action when needed. We are able to maintain this flexibility because our mission is funded primarily by private donors.

We are honored by the support of those who give, partner, volunteer, and celebrate with us.
