The Gift of a Lifetime: Including Women’s Lunch Place in your Financial Plan
“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” ― Pericles
Donors who are passionate about changing the lives of homeless women in Boston may wish to consider including a charitable gift in their financial plan. Planned giving can be a powerful way to make lasting impact.
Listed below are a few of the simplest approaches to making a planned gift. Our goal is to provide a general overview, not offer specific legal or financial advice. Please speak with your own advisors as you explore these options.
-
Remembering Women’s Lunch Place in your will (also referred to as a bequest) is a wonderful way to make a lasting impact for women experiencing homelessness.
There are many benefits to leaving a bequest. Bequests enable you to make a significant gift while preserving your flexibility and financial stability during your lifetime. There may also be tax benefits for your beneficiaries.
An example of language you can share with your attorney is:
"I bequeath (specific dollar amount [or] XX% [or] the entire residue of my estate) to Women’s Lunch Place, Inc., 67 Newbury Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02116. Federal Tax ID: 22-2514148."
Download our resource, “The Gift of a Lifetime” for more details on this type of legacy giving.

If you have a retirement plan, insurance policy, or donor-advised fund, you can name Women’s Lunch Place, Inc. as a charitable beneficiary of your assets. This is one of the easiest and most flexible ways to plan for a lasting and powerful impact on women’s lives.
This involves contacting the administrator of your plan and including Women’s Lunch Place, Inc. as one of your beneficiaries. You can review and adjust beneficiary designations anytime you wish. You can also include multiple beneficiaries.
A beneficiary gift to Women’s Lunch Place, Inc. is exempt from taxes, which means the total value of the gift goes toward furthering our mission.
-
If you are 70 ½ years of age or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Women’s Lunch Place, Inc. Contact your IRA plan administrator to initiate the distribution.
