A Shared Commitment to End Homelessness
Our annual fundraiser and networking luncheon, eat LUNCH give, will take place in the Oriental Ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston (776 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02199) on Friday, May 16th, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Sponsorships are available now.
This special luncheon will include a delicious meal, an exciting raffle, and the opportunity to hear about the great work and mission of WLP from some of Boston’s brightest leaders.
THIS YEAR’s guest Speaker: Marcia Fudge
Marcia Fudge, the 18th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), will share special remarks at this year’s eat LUNCH give fundraiser.
Marcia is currently the Richard L. and Ronay A. Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and serves as a partner in Taft Law Firm’s Public Affairs Strategies Group as the firmwide Chair of Public Policy.
From 2008 to 2021, Marcia served as a U.S. representative for the 11th Congressional District of Ohio, where she was a member of several Congressional Caucuses and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Throughout her career, Marcia has led initiatives to increase housing supply, eradicate homelessness, end discriminatory practices in the housing market, and ensure compliance with fair housing rules.

THIS YEAR’S HONOREE: JOANNE CHANG
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Women Who Give award will be presented to Joanne Chang, Pastry Chef & Co-Owner of Flour Bakery, and Co-Owner of Myers + Chang.
James Beard Award-winning chef Joanne Chang opened the first Flour bakery in 2000. More than two decades later, she now operates ten Flour bakeries and sister restaurant Myers + Chang in Boston/Cambridge with her husband and business partner Christopher Myers.
Joanne, Flour, and Myers + Chang have garnered local and national recognition from Gourmet, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, the New York Times, the Food Network, Conde Nast Traveler, Inc. Magazine, O Magazine, Boston Magazine, and the Boston Globe.
Joanne is the author of five cookbooks and serves on the Board of Directors for Share Our Strength and Brookline Bank. Joanne appeared as a judge on the first season of Netflix’s competition show Baking Impossible. She also teaches classes and advises pastry cooks both within the bakery, at area cooking schools, and virtually with her Bake Like a Pro session on MasterClass as well as her IGTV series Flour Love (#flourlove).
THIS YEAR’S HOST: PARIS ALSTON
Paris Alston is the host of GBH News Rooted. She was previously co-host of Morning Edition and The Wake Up podcast at GBH News. She has done live coverage of Massachusetts’ elections, the unveiling of the Embrace monument to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, the 2023 national NAACP convention, where she interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris, and the 2024 Celtics Championship Parade. She also does community-based reporting for her award-winning original series "A Walk Down the Block,” and produces regular segments for the original mental health series “Wake Up Well.
Before joining Morning Edition, Paris was a host of the NPR podcast Consider This, produced in conjunction with GBH and WBUR. She also served as the host of GBH’s digital series Keep it Social about social media trends, targeted at millennial and Gen Z audiences. Prior to that, she broke into the industry as an intern at UNC-TV in North Carolina and NBC10-Philadelphia and a producer at GBH and WBUR. She has reported on stories from Southeast Asia, Morocco, Panama and Brazil.
A North Carolina native, Paris is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied media and journalism and global studies. She recently earned a Social Impact MBA from Boston University. She is a member of the Boston and National Associations of Black Journalists and has worked extensively with print, digital, video, audio and social media.
