Catchafire Provides Free Expert Services to WLP
To put it simply, Catchafire lives up to its name.
As a daytime shelter and advocacy center for women experiencing homelessness and poverty, Women’s Lunch Place has an extremely dynamic slate of programming and administrative responsibilities and limited resources to accomplish them. In connecting us to experts who offer their services entirely free of charge, Catchafire has become an asset that we continue to benefit from and rely on.
Our nonprofit has already utilized the versatile platform for the following projects: accounting, video editing, Google grant assistance, email marketing, and strategic plan facilitation.
Mireille, an experienced accountant, was our introduction to Catchafire. For over a year, she assisted our Director of Operations with hyper-technical budgetary projects. Thanks to our work with Mireille, the shelter now makes use of industry-leading software to track and monitor our intricate spending.
Greyson, our video editor, worked quickly and diligently to create dynamic content (three examples here, here, and here) in advance of our recent virtual fundraiser. His suggestions for lighting, camera placement, and storyboarding were invaluable. After the event, our board members remarked that the fundraiser’s production quality was the most professional that we’ve ever had.
Chetna, who has assisted us for months with our Google AdWords grant, has enabled us to earn thousands of dollars in free ad space by directing us to best practices for keywords, copy, and targeting. Our bimonthly meetings are always a pleasure, and the results have been clear––our Google-advertised Mother’s Day Card Campaign raised $50K more in 2021 than in 2020.
Daniel stepped in recently for a one-hour call to confirm our email re-engagement strategy. His concise, detailed instructions have prepared us to reach out to dormant subscribers and improve our ability to reach out to our audience and garner their support. We are excited to reconnect and assess the project with him post-implementation.
Yagev has embarked on a crucial journey with us. In shaping and guiding our strategic plan, he has empowered our committee of board members and senior and guest services staff to dive into complex questions about the future of our organization. His thoughtful approach and critical feedback have made the process not only productive, but also enjoyable.
Despite their variety, a few things have remained consistent across all four projects–-the Catachafire volunteers have all been unwaveringly kind, knowledgeable, timely, and thrilled to be able to help the vulnerable women we serve.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for their help. Our community has already benefitted immensely from our work with Catchafire, and we are eager to forge ahead on new projects together in the future.
Thank you, Catchafire!
