This event brings together two organizations that are committed to helping the most vulnerable among us in Boston.

  • WLP is a day shelter and advocacy center for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty. WLP helps over 2,000 women annually through five core programs: Wellness, Healthy Meals, Direct Care, Advocacy, and Housing. Learn more.

  • NABB is our residents’ association, founded in 1955 to preserve Back Bay's beauty and residential quality of life. The Homelessness Task Force (HTF) was established in 2019 to increase understanding of homelessness in Boston and promote effective interventions through public education and advocacy.

The committee organized three educational forums––one in 2019, at the Boston Public Library attended by several hundred people, a virtual event in 2021, and an in-person/virtual event at the Boston Public Library in 2022. The committee co-hosted with the Boston Public Library a conversation with the Homelessness Outreach Team featured in Rough Sleepers, a recent publication by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Kidder. Dr. Jim O’Connell, President of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP), and Dr. Eileen Reilly, Street Team Psychiatrist for BHCHP, spoke about their work providing medical care and psychological support to help stabilize and heal Boston’s rough sleepers during the June 2023 event. Kathleen Young, Co-chair of the Homelessness Task Force, moderated the discussion.

*WLP and NABB are 501(c)3 organizations. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
