New Year's Message from the Executive Director

Dear Friends of Women's Lunch Place,

As I reflect on the past year, I am inspired by the strides we've made in enhancing the clinical support offered at Women's Lunch Place. Our commitment to providing mental healthcare for women experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty has led to the introduction of key people and programs that further fortify our mission.

We welcomed a dedicated Behavioral Health & Stabilization Clinician and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to our team. This strategic expansion has enabled us to provide individual therapy and prescribe critical medicine for our guests. In addition, we've bolstered our addiction recovery programs, recognizing the key role they play in fostering stability and well-being.

I am also proud to share that in February, I will be recognized as an Innovator in Healthcare by the Boston Business Journal. This accolade is deeply rooted in WLP’s proactive Strategic Plan and is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire staff and network of collaborative partners. Together, we are advancing equitable health outcomes for the women who turn to us for help.

Studies show that the unique experiences of homeless women require tailored services, and Women's Lunch Place acts as a catalyst for innovative programming in this regard. Our gender-specific environment acknowledges the specific challenges faced by our guests, and a laser focus on women's services is paramount in our mission.

As we navigate the intersections of mental health challenges and the needs of homeless women, it becomes increasingly evident that Permanent Supportive Housing is a critical component of a comprehensive solution. We must continue to advocate for and work towards creating a sustainable support system that addresses the root causes of homelessness and keeps women stably housed for the long-term.

In closing, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our supporters who have played a pivotal role in pursuing WLP’s mission. Your unwavering commitment provides essential services and advocates for lasting change. You make a profound impact on the lives of our guests.

With gratitude,
