Four guests, arm in arm, smiling in the dining room of women's lunch place.

IN SHERYL'S WORDS:

“I grew up in Boston. I’ve been here all my life.

My grandmother on my dad’s side raised me. She tried to do the best she could. I was taught how to cook. I was taught how to read.

I first became homeless in 2009.

I had left my family’s house because I was being abused, and I started staying in different shelters. I met a woman who said I should come to Women’s Lunch Place.

Coming here and sharing stories with the other guests, having that confidentiality with them, it let us open up to each other.

I tell people that this place can help you grow and build friendships. You never know when you’re going to find a true friend.

When I sit down for a meal, I feel like I’m home—I feel comfortable. I feel safe. I feel secure. I feel happy and welcome.

Without Women’s Lunch Place, I would never have received housing. It took a long time, and I’m just grateful for a second chance. I’m grateful that I have a place to call home.

It is because of you that we can elevate the voices of our guests and help them achieve their goals.

Thank you for being a part of our community.
