Every guest has her own story
. That’s why individualized, expert help is so essential. Every year, our case management advocates provide one-on-one assistance to more than 1,300 women. WLP advocates understand the trauma and difficulties our guests must overcome—and know what resources and information can help.   

Each guest gets to work with one consistent advocate over time—building genuine trust and authentic safety. Most often, we are working with our guests to: 

  • Find permanent housing 

  • Secure emergency shelter 

  • Resolve legal issues 

  • Enroll in and maximize their benefits 

  • Get treatment for health issues 

  • Gain employment 

LEGAL SERVICES

Legal help at Women’s Lunch Place happens where it matters most—face-to-face. Our dedicated, full-time attorney, supervised by Greater Boston Legal Services, works directly with guests to protect their rights and clear away barriers to housing, safety, and stability. Complemented by a strong pro bono network and closely integrated with our case management team, legal advocacy is a powerful engine for lasting change. 


THE BIGGER PICTURE…

Research from Boston Indicators shows that Boston is the city with the second highest homelessness rate in the U.S., second only to New York City. And, in Greater Boston, about half of homeless individuals are women. 

Within this context of inflated rents and living costs, women experiencing homelessness often need help untangling the complex situation that led to their becoming homeless. One-on-one guidance from WLP advocates ensures that guests find a pathway to housing, benefits, and ongoing support.
