Fundraise Virtually for Women’s Lunch Place this Mother's Day

We are grateful for the support we have received from our community and for the inquiries asking how you can assist our mission to support women experiencing homelessness and poverty during this time of uncertainty.

We are continuing to maintain all three of our core service areas – healthy meals, direct care and advocacy – despite the challenges brought on by COVID-19. Although this pandemic has forced us to temporarily shift to take-out meals, we are still serving over 200 meals each day! We have continued to assist guests with their basic needs - toiletries, underwear, and other emergency items - and our advocates are checking in with elderly and shut-in guests and are delivering pantry baskets of food and supplies to their door.

You can get involved and become a “virtual volunteer” by helping us promote our Mother’s Day cards in two easy steps.

  1. Be a Card Captain and encourage friends and family to support WLP with a Mother's Day Card. Share our message through social media, email, and on community/work e-forums. If you’re reaching out to people who don’t know anything about Women’s Lunch Place you may want to start with a few facts:

Women’s Lunch Place is a safe, welcoming day shelter community, providing nutritious food and individualized services for women who are experiencing homelessness or poverty.

Six days a week, WLP’s kitchen serves a hearty breakfast and lunch, served by volunteers. The Healthy Meals Program goes beyond hunger relief, serving nutritious food within a community of friendship, respect, and care.

WLP welcomes each woman with dignity and offers help with acute and basic needs, from showers and laundry to a restful visit to the nap room. WLP supplies toiletries, warm outerwear during the winter months, and special gifts at our monthly Birthday Friday celebration.

  2. Send cards to your loved ones and friends. Each year a guest participating in the Creative Expressions program designs the card image. The donation for each card sponsors one week of meals for a guest. The cards are a meaningful way to honor or remember a special person in your life – all while supporting Boston’s most vulnerable women
