Since 2020, more than 95% of the women we’ve helped secure housing have remained housed.

That’s because finding an apartment is only part of the journey.

This fall, we’re asking you to join our MOVE IN Campaign and help a woman like Luna move from homelessness to a permanent home—with the one-on-one support she needs along the way.

When we met 78-year-old Luna, she had been homeless for over a year.

A fashion designer for much of her life, Luna lost her vision due to an illness. As she adapted to life without sight, she spent her life savings trying to remain housed.

When her savings ran out, Luna became homeless. She began moving from shelter to shelter, often staying only a few weeks at a time. She had to navigate unfamiliar places and depend on strangers while trying to figure out who she could trust.

Then she came to Women’s Lunch Place.

Luna was matched with a case manager, Rachelle, who helped her access benefits, fill out housing applications, and search for an accessible apartment. In our overnight shelter, Luna had a private room, nutritious meals, and someone she trusted to keep showing up.

Will you join the MOVE IN Campaign and help another woman like Luna move toward home?

Eventually, Luna and Rachelle found an accessible senior housing community. As they toured the grounds, a resident tending the garden hugged Luna and told her she would be welcome there.

The next day, Luna signed the lease.

But support didn’t end there. Rachelle helped Luna furnish her apartment, stock it with essentials, and find accessible transportation.

When she checked in a week later, Luna was headed to a community barbecue and feeling right at home!

Nearly 1,000 women are working with WLP to find permanent housing. Your gift helps ensure that a woman has someone who will understand her barriers, advocate for her, and keep showing up.
