A RECent LETTER FROM A GUEST OF WLP
“Dear WLP — Today marks my one-year anniversary of coming to Women’s Lunch Place.
The day I first visited you, I was wandering Newbury Street searching for food. I was digging through the trash can next to WLP, and a pedestrian pointed WLP out to me. I went in and was given the kindest of welcomes.
I was given a walkthrough of the resources, and it nearly brought me to tears. I was overwhelmed that such kindness existed in the same world that had been so cruel to me.
My hunger was satiated by the meal, and the thank-you bag in which I put my takeaway dinner was as comforting as a teddy bear to a child.
It distilled my newfound belief that I am not hopelessly alone. WLP has persistently held that emotionally and practically helpful role.
WLP always provides a raft, no matter how much my life is hurt by instabilities.
Thank you so much! Hopefully, we need not have more anniversaries.”
