Posh Newbury Street Salon Donates a Day of Beauty to Homeless and Poor Women

Boston, MA - On, Monday, August 4, from 10:00 am -1:00 pm, guests from The Women's Lunch Place will be pampered by a premier, modern, full service salon and day spa. Daryl Christopher's Wellness Salon and Day Spa, located at 37 Newbury Street in Boston, will treat the women to a day of hair and nail care followed by a make-up application session. They will also be able to choose from a rack of high-end clothes specifically donated for them.

The chic salon is offering this lovely indulgence as a way to reach out and be good neighbors in their community. Located just blocks from the shelter, the event was organized by Vanessa Rodgers, an employee of the trendy shop who was moved by the plight of homeless women, especially those she saw coming to work everyday around the Newbury Street area. "We are neighbors, we want to be involved."

The Women's Lunch Place offers breakfast and lunch and provides a safe, comfortable daytime shelter with nutritious food, and services for women who are homeless or poor. They treat women with dignity and respect fostering a community committed to meeting each woman's needs. Executive Director Sharon Reilly says this is just what the women need. "We are delighted to bring some of the guests to the salon, knowing this will go a long way in helping them feel confident and it's always great to be treated like a queen."

"There is nothing wrong with looking good and feeling good," says Angela, owner of Daryl Christopher's. "We want them to look their very best. When they leave the salon, the women are going to look like they are going to walk the Red Carpet."
